NWR Venting - Stupid Post Office Workers

I swear I have THE worst luck of anyone. My grandfather is very elderly and old fashioned so he never writes checks or uses a credit card - his accountant writes his checks for his bills etc and he just audits the books. Anyhow when sending birthday money you would think to write a check but since my Grandfather is very cash only, he has been sending me a $100 bill every year since I was very little. This year someone opened my Hallmark card at the post office, stamped it with "arrived at post office opened" which is crap and then used packing tape to tape it shut. There are obvious wrinkles on the envelope to show it was forced open and the cash is missing... I HATE THE POST OFFICE! And I have no recourse because it was cash!

Who steals birthday money? From the card I could have been a five year old grandchild - they would have been stealing from a little kid! What is wrong with people?!

yeah, i experienced postal theft when i was a teenager. sent a mixed tape to someone for their birthday and it arrived "resealed" with the card only... no tape. not only that, the post office didn't deliver some of my STDs back in november. my own parents didn't get my STD!!! but somehow, my friend who lived in the next block got it. argh. since then, i insure my packages/letters, etc. not only does it make the post office pay more attention to delivering it, but no one dares to steal it! and it's only like 30 cents more.

ps - postal thefts occur more often during holidays.

That used to happen at my college all the time. If it looked like a birthday card you were lucky to get it at all. It's sad and disgusting.
