Well if you are there right now, you could try and get some spring skiing in. It's a little too early for boating on the lake, but you could take a trip over there. There's lots of hiking in and around the area.
I would go over to Emerald Bay which is on the west shore (really sw shore) if you are staying in reno, it will take some time to get over there. Truckee is also a really cute town (right on the 80)..it's base camp for most skiers/boarders. You
can visit the Donner camp over on Donner Lake and see what the snow level was when they were stranded there (that level was surpassed this winter!)
Tahoe City is on the west shore, it has some cute shopping areas, and that's where you would go to go river rafting down the Truckee River, but again I think it may be a wee bit early....
South shore has all the fancy casinos and resorts...but it doesnt have any of the rustic charm that the rest of the lake has.
East shore (the NV side) is mostly state park..one of my favorite things is sthe Thunderbird lodge..back in the 20's 3 people owned all the land around the lake, the thunderbird is one of the owners mansions...he owned a pet lion named Billy and
had an elephant there! I think you have to have reservations to go visit it..I wanted to have my wedding there...but it was 25k for just the venue!
Reno is like any other city, its good for movies or shopping..or casinos but they arent like Vegas!
Sorry if it's kinda rambly...its a transitional time up there right now.
