I wouldn't feel obligated. To be honest it will probably be more of a financial strain on them to have 3 people from the same family in the wedding, espeicially if the 2 of you aren't that close. I am having my brother's wife as one of my bm's but my brother is not a groomsmen. My FI has 2 brothers and a lot of good friends and him and my brother just aren't as close. There's no hurt feelings (that I know of lol).

I agree with the other ladies, don't feel obligated to do so!

Nope! For my brother in laws wedding, drew was the best man, mya was the flower girl, and I was a guest! Which was great bc mya was cranky that day so I was glad that I could focus on her rather then the wedding party

I wouldnt feel obligated at all. If you felt like you need to or want to you could have her as a personal attendant?

Yay! Another person planning a vow renewal! Me, too. Did you know there's a Vow Renewal group here on PW at http://www.projectwedding.com/groups/boards/vow-renewals

I wouldn't feel obligated to add her to your side. And I bet the girl's mother would feel less stressed that day if she could focus on her daughter's performance/appearance. I have a BFF that will be in my renewal, but her husband isn't, as far as we plan on now anyway.

ETA: Of course you know about the Vow Renewal group! You've been here MUCH longer than me! I only just noticed the info by people's pics. LOL!!!

No not at all!! We had a similar situation (sort of), I chose my mom as my MOH, so DH felt obligated for a little while to choose his dad as his best man (he and his father are not on the best terms). It ended up being totally fine though. Choose who makes sense!!

No way! There is no obligation there. My sister was my maid of honor and my DH best friend was his best man. The best man is dating DH's cousin who was my bridesmaid, but I wouldn't have upgraded her just because she is dating the best man. She wanted to walk down the aisle with him so bad and I told her, know your role! Lol. Seriously, all the women in my bridal party were selected because they were each near and dear to my heart. So unless you feel that way about her, don't feel any obligation to put her in the wedding.
