Opinions on under sink/cabinet curtains?!

Do you think this ever looks contemporary, or does it scream "old country home" style?

I was thinking about doing in our laundry room.  It wouldn't be under a sink but there is a good size countertop in there and underneath we store our hampers, a step stool, trashcan, etc.  It's not exactly pretty!  I was thinking it would be a very easy project if I can find the right size/style curtains & just use a tension rod.  I found these pics where it was used in a laundry room.

Whatcha think...can I make this work in my contemporary home?  Thanks :)

I think with the patterns in the two above pics it looks a little country.  BUT I think the fabric you choose will make a huge difference!

Those pics above look country, but ditto, if you picked a more contemporary pattern it might look super cute!!! :)

Ditto Amanda and Allie :-)

Actually, I think if you took that stool and some of the other accessories out of the first pic, it could look fairly contemporary. Maybe a lot of shiny objects, clean lines and a luxurious curtain fabric will help!

I also agree with using a more comtemporary pattern you can pull off a contemporary room... that paired with the right accessories in the room will help with the contemporary feel...

Mel- remind me again what colors you have in your laundry room?  I will hunt for curtains and see what I can find!! :)

It is really just lacking color at the moment :/  White walls, white washer & dryer, beige countertop, brazilian cherry hardwood floors, white storage shelves, that washer board sign I made (brown & paisley) and then random laundry room themed artwork!  It's a very neutral room at the moment.

I agree that fabric choice is key. Also, you could make it more contemporary by how it's tailored (rather than something wavy/pleated, you could do something more flat like a tailored bed skirt ~ of course I can't find an inspiration pic! :/ )

@Gator: I was looking for one earlier, too. My Google search terms look pretty funny.

This was the closest one I could find, Mel. I don't think it looks country! :-)
