My fiance doesn't even like it when I wear party dresses from my "past life" so I thought it odd when he said I could wear my pearl cuff bracelet from my first marriage. I'm going to wear it because I love it and I don't want to spend $80+ to get a new one... and I'm an environmentalist.

What are your superstitions and feelings on reusing items from either your past life or someone elses?

If it's cute and your fiance is ok with it, then GO FOR IT!

I dont wear or even keep for that matter items from my previous relationships...& honestly I dont even know why. When I think about it I know its not a big deal..I just dont do it......Actually now that I think about it I do have some items from my first evere realtionship in my "John Box"...the things in there are important to me because It reminds me of when I was so young and (what I thought) was in love. Fi doesnt mind that I have these things but I dont wear them :) Just my Opinion thought. i dont think there is anything wrong with it, I have just never thought to put on any of the jewelry from my exes...maybe its because all the jewelry they bought me was crap jewelry LOL

I have a tendancy to dump items that I feel emotional connections to (such as exes shirts, my old e-ring, necklaces I wore all the time, etc) and I hide old pictures or avoid certain songs... so I understand how some people have to get rid of everything.

The cuff is neutral to me even though it was worn to a huge event.

My past relationships were so bad I don't want anything to remind me of the bad choices I made. I have either thrown the stuff away or given to someone. But you feel comfortable wearing it, then go for it!!!

You know, despite the attachment we sometimes have to items at a time, they also have a future with us too. A beautiful bracelet is wonderful to have, and good you don't have to spend the money again!

I really like and agree with aggiebride's opinion! although we all have a different way of seeing things....If you are comfortable wearing it and your FI is ok with it go for it!

The things I have from my past, I deem wearable. The reason is because I threw out anything with any kind of emotion or real memory behind it. It I look at a piece of jewelry and I immediately think of an ex or have any kind of emotional draw, I threw it out.

All the things I kept are things that I happened to have gotten while I was with someone else, but if I threw out everything I bought while in a relationship, I would have to had rebuilt my entire wardrobe when I started dating my FI.

I say it's okay!

Is this for the wedding or just in everyday life? I don't wear things given to me by past boyfriends or that I bought specifically when I was with them, but other than that I wear stuff. I mean I still have things from high school I wear. But for the wedding everything is new and my mom wanted me to have her wedding band but my parents divorced a year later and have always had a terrible relationship so I said no. But I would take it and get something else made from it to wear at other times.
