Outdoor ceremony- alternative to arch

We're having our wedding outdoors on the Chattahoochee River in Atlanta...I really don't like the look of arches and can't afford a really nice looking arbor...any ideas or suggestions on something we can have up there?

-maybe using pomanders or even petals to outline a half-circle on the lawn ---> denoting where the "altar space" will be

-using shephered's hooks - hanging some mason jars with flowers in them

-renting or buying columns and placing flower arrangements on them

if you wanna use the arches - buy some inexpensive flowy fabric an drape it:

maybe by a garland of flowers and wrap around??

In your case, you don't want an arch...how about some potted trees, urns or topiaries with flowers or shepherd hooks with pomanders, lanterns or hanging arrangements.  Or how about a beautiful umbrella...decorated with hanging beads/crystals or flowers?  Or, if there's a tree that you can use as your "altar" hang flowers/ribbon/lanterns/chandeliers from it to make it special.

Personally, I didn't feel I could improve on mother nature, so we skipped the arch altogether and just went with the gorgeous backdrop of the pacific ocean in Hawaii.  Budget-friendly and awe-inspiring!
