We are having our wedding ceremony outdoors but I'm having trouble findings a string duo to play outdoors...

Did anyone else have this problem and how did you solve it?

I did not have this problem.  They did say that they would not play if it was raining or the temp was below 60.  I got in touch with some students from my old college and I am having them play.  You could also try Serenade Strings, but I thought they were a bit pricey.

hmmm, we are working with serenade strings, although their contract does lay out their policy about rain, what type of surface they can (and won't) play on, etc.  where are you having your outdoor ceremony?  do you know of any other string groups who have come in to play in the space before?

Another, perhaps cheaper option could be to hire students from Webster University.  They have a music school.  Students may be less finicky about where they plan and just be happy to have a paying gig.

I'm not sure exactly how to go about this, but you could call a faculty member or put up a flyer in the music school if you live close.

I've thought about doing the college student route, but that's kind of a wait until the last minute thing... and a little unreliable...

I got a contract from Serenade Strings and it looks like they'll play as long as it's not raining at that time... but they're 250 for 1 hour... geez... I'm not sure I care that much...?

Has anyone done the college student route and had success??

I haven't, but check out the local high schools, too. They're generally pretty good and cheap!
