A few ideas for outdoor lighting with low cost:
1. Buy clear glass cylinder vases in bulk from a wholesaler, about 9" is average. You can buy floating candles and fill the vases with water to weigh them down and then put in the floating candle. This can be a cool way to light paths.
2. Another easy and cheap way it to take monofilament line (fishing line) and string regular paper lanterns from the fishing line in rows. You can use bamboo poles from Pier One and stake them in the ground and run the extension cords through the poles to hide cables. About 5 lanterns and two poles can really light up an area.
3. Another easy way is italian street lights, they look light small bulbs strung together. They are really pretty hung hap hazord and you can but them at Target in the patio section. Also get wire - thick gauge from Home Depot and shape it into what ever shapes you want and wrap white Christmas lights around the wire. You can create little chandeliers like this and hang them where you need light.
hope that helps
