Ok, I'm new to using OPK this month.  According to those I got positives on a Friday night and Saturday morning, but I didnt get the watery CM till Tuesday.  Does that mean it took me 4 days to actually ovulate and release an egg?  I'm so confused haha.

According to this:  http://www.americanpregnancy.org/gettingpregnant/ovulationkits.html

The three days immediately after a positive test represent the best time to have intercourse and increase the probability of getting pregnant. The first or second day will account for the day prior to ovulation and the third day should be the day of ovulation.

So the OPK just detected your LH surge which happens before you actually release the egg....is that right, ladies?  I'm still learning here!

Well we DTD 2 of the 4 days so hopefully we caught it right somewhere haha.  FX, I just hope that I'm not let down!  It's hard thinking you've got it all right but still know it might not happen.

from what I've read, BD again tonight, too - if you actually ovulated yesterday, depending on the time, the egg could still be viable today - it either is and is already fertilized, is and still needs fertilization or isn't and it won't matter - have fun! ;)

I completely agree with thinking you're doing everything right and could still be let down! This thread was very helpful :) I was also confused about that, too. Like so if you get a positive on the kit does that mean you're already ovulating so it's too late or it's coming up. But it sounds like the positive means coming up 3 days later?

lex484, some of the other ladies who were both temping and using OPKs could tell us, I'm hoping one of them will confirm it.  I am only temping at this point since I am just trying to learn my cycles and not TTC

lex - it depends on what you are using (kit or monitor) as to what is going on.  I use the kit - either the wondfo internet cheapies or the clearblue digital OPK.  I have been temping and testing for the last couple of months and this is what has happened FOR ME:

1. I get a dip in my temps the day before ovulation. This apparently doesn't happen to eeryone.

2. I get a + OPK the same day as the temp dip.

3. I ONLY get + OPKs in the afternoon.

4. According to the package (CB Digi), you only get the surge for a very short period of time (sometimes only like 12 hrs - hence me only geting + in the afternoon and not morning).  Your egg will be released in the next 12-24 hrs (supposedly).

5. I have not gotten pregnant yet.

Not sure if that helps or makes it more confusing - but I definitely think that temping and charting is the way to go.  A friend of mine tried for over a year before she started temping and only AFTER she regularly charted did she realize that she ovulated at a different time every month and not at all during the times that other website "predictors" seemed to think she would.  Good luck to you!

Murph- So since you only get + OPK, how did you come to know that when you started testing? Were you testing multiple times a day? I bought the ClearBlue OPK (the 7 test pack+1 pregnancy test) but my last two cycles were two different lengths, 29 and 31 days so I'm not sure when to start the OPK. Also, I was thinking I'd take it in the AM, but what if I wouldn't get a + til later in the day and I actually just miss it? I started tempting yesterday which was the last day of AF. Not sure if that was correct but I figured it can't hurt to start, and I'm tracking it on FF. I guess I'm just confused with mine last two being different which day I should start OPK.

@lex484  The OPK that I have, I got 50 test strips and it tells you, if your cycle is this long start testing on CDxx.  So I have been using my cycle average to know when to start testing.  I also test 2 times a day, AM & PM, around the same time too because I got a - in the AM and then that afternoon I got my +.
