We inherited our dining room table/chairs from DH's parents and I'm so not in love with them.  DH LOVES the table which he remembers from his childhood which I'm fine with because it is a nice round pedestal style table, however, the chairs were added at some point and really don't go...they are also a slightly different color wood.  I came across this photo on pinterest and it looks just like my table and I love the cream chairs with it.  I'm at work so I'm limited with what photos I have but I've put some together to give you an idea of what the space looks like:

Area rug: beige, dark brown, sage green, blue

Living room colors...this is an open area so no wall separating dining/living room

I eventually want to order upholestered chairs but need to wait a bit since we just did our bathrooms...so in the meantime I trying to think what color would look best on our existing chairs:

cream, sage, or a pale blue?  Two different colors? 

BTW, I'm prohibited from touching the table...or I'd paint it black :)  DH said I can do whatever to the chairs though :)

I love the idea of cream chairs! Plus I think that cream would look great in your space.

Random aside, I'm loving banquettes right now! (as per your inspiration pic)

I too love the idea of cream chairs and would 'pop' nicely with your table and especially the rug. (I am assuming the leg of the table is in the pic of the rug... which looks to be a little darker...) 

I personally wouldn't be brave enough to go with the sage or blue chair color or even a mix of two colors... and I would be concerned with the style of chair and the blue or sage color might come across really country IMO... but that's just me...

mis1110-I agree the blue or green could come across country and may not really fit in. Also, that is the base of the table that you can see in the photo...so you can tell how the chairs don't really go...

Ok, so I think I'm going to do cream....this weekend.  I'll post before and after pics.

Yep, hopefully cleaning and sanding won't take too long! 

Definitely cream!!!  That will look amazing, I think!  You might even want to keep them!! :)
