I have found my next project!!

Most of you have probably seen this brown paper bag flooring on Pinterest:

brown paper bag floor.

Well, I am going to try it on the stairs leading to our unfinished basement.  It doesn't sound too hard to do alone & anything will look better than they currently look!  I also found this pic today:

Paper bag stairs + textured wallpaper risers

This lady used textured wallpaper for the risers of the stairs & I love it (though I want a more contemporary pattern).  So, I searched for the paintable wallpaper & found a chevron pattern online (currently obsessed with chevron)!

I probably won't start this for a few weeks (when we are done tiling our master bathroom)...but wish me luck :)

Oh & any thoughts on what color I should paint the wallpapered risers?  Keep them white?  Brown?  Other?

I had this sort of thing at my old house, but it was an old (old old) house so instead of wallpaper it was carved wood - so beautiful. This is an amazing idea to get the same effect. I personally would have them white/cream so that it keeps it quite light.
Can't wait to see piccies!

No I haven't.  I bought all the supplies last night so...soon!!  I haven't decided if I will actually do the wallpaper part, or just the paper bags.
