.....and it's an EPIC FAIL!!!!!

So I tried the hanging letters.

Here's what I started with.

I bought hydrangeas and moss to see which one I wanted to use. Well, the sucky glue doesn't stick faux flowers very well so I had to scrap and use moss instead. This is the result of that....

Next, after quickly getting frustrated with that, I tried DIY name flip-flops for my maids...Very very bad idea.

I just ended up with glue all over the place and a headache. That middle crystal is supposed to be a pink embellishment but it looks more like a cheap piece of crap. **SIGH**  That's why I buy everything....

I think the moss works... is it possible to put a few twinkle lights on your finished letter? maybe it will bring it all together nicely... ?

I like the moss!  and for rhinestone flip flops you can buy rhinestone alphabet stickers!

Rallison, twinkly lights? You mean like Christmas tree lights? How would I add them? Do you have a picture?

Sparkysgirl, where can I find tiny alphabet stickers? I bought the ones (alphabet) iron on letters but had to use glue to tack them on the flip flop. I used E6000 glue and it sucks. Any ideas on better glue to use? Hot glue gun is too hard to manipulate such tiny stones (and I don't want my fingers to stick together like they did yesterday...ugh....)

Your doing great for a first try. Personally, I would continue the moss also. If you want petals on one side, put them on after completing the moss so that the cardboard doesn't show. As for the glue, I'd go to the scrapbooking section or ebay and find the letters in stickers.

I found this site for the stickers.

lol - you actually did make me laugh out loud with your description and obvious frustration.

Personally, I love the moss - it looks good. But that's b/c I'm partial to Moss and already have 5 moss-covered letters for my wedding :)

As for the flip flops...good try though! It was a good idea...too bad it didn't come to fruition. good luck!

Love the letters with the moss, maybe you could use a small bunch of the hydrangea and adhere the side of the letter, covered with moss???!!

I actually think ur sandals are cute. No one will look too closely. If they look good from 3feet or more, keep it! :) for glue, try using tacky glue or maybe rubber cement, u just wouldn't need to add a lot to each gem, u could use a toothpick to transfer the glue to the gem. When I put rhinestones on my shoe, I used a spare set of tweezers. Worked out fine! :)

good luck with ur many more diys
