Placecard Ideas Needed*

I would love to do my placecards NOT on a table, but rather on a tree! As in the trunk of a tree. I am haivng my wedding at a state historic site, view of the Hudson River, woodsy, huge mansion up the hill, in a tent, evening. Ok that's the setting... It's a formal wedding, but I have some rustic elements throughout.

My original idea came from a wedding i went to where the bride wrapped a ribbon around this poll thingy and had place cards on the ribbon. Well I was thinking this would be fun with a tree... anyone have any ideas how to go about doing this? Or any other alternative fun ideas related? That are affordable!!

I've seen where people have hung long lengths of ribbon from the branches and clipped the cards to ribbons.  I know there's a picture somewhere but I can't for the life of me find it!!
