What's done on your list, and what do you still need to complete?

Anything easier or harder than you expected it to be?

Have booked ceremony & receptions sites, music for both, cake, photographer, and food.  I am picking up my dress tomorrow, and I hope it fits.

We need to work on Save the Dates, Invitations, Rehersal Dinner, flowers/decor, rings, wp attire, and honeymoon locations.

I guess the hardest thing for me was trying to establish a benchmark for the cost of everything.  Is this the best price, or can I find cheaper?  I also don't have a lot of decorating flair I guess?  I'm pretty simple when it comes to color coordinations, but I think by keeping things simple & elegant I'll do well.

I also hadn't thought about hiring a DOC, but with my hectic life for the next six months, I decided that I needed to.  I think I found one that's reasonable, and we see eye-to-eye on a lot of things.  It's also nice to know that I'll have someone in charge the day of so we can enjoy the day.

How is everyone else doing-6 months from today??!!

The item I'm having the most problems with at the moment is finding my mum a nice outfit for the day. She's 'vertically challenged' so nothing too long but she's also fresh and vibrant - so nothing too old! As far as planning goes, I've been engaged since June 2008 so I'm pretty far along. The only things left for me to do is pick up the invites and send them off, create seat savers and place settings and wait for the RSVPs to roll in!

Ottergirl...I'm also having a hard time with my mom's outfit! She is very difficult to find outfits for because she doesn't take any risks and wears very modest/conservative clothes!

I just received my save-the-date magnets ans will be sending those off pretty soon. My invites are in, the dresses are ordered and on the way, most of the vendors are booked except for MUA/hair stylist and the big one is florist. I think I've just been putting off the florist for way too long, but I am going to see two this week.

Jcmunson - my florist was amazing! If you ever decide to get married in NZ I can reccomend her ;) . But seriously I would suggest going with an absolute figure in mind that you dont want to exceed. I had really firm ideas about what I wanted for flowers and a medium budget that I thought would cover it. I went to a few florists, named my price and what I wanted and just got 'No'. By the end of the day I was pretty shaken, some vendors suggested that I triple my budget for flowers! Finally I walked into my florists shop, we sat down, had some tea and talked about the venue, what I wanted and how much I had to spend. Instead of saying no, my florist tweaked a few things (re-using flowers from ceremony in reception, changing the type of flowers to more readily available ones) and *Shabangabang*! I have my flowers at my price!

Another peice of advice? Dont wear heels! Still hurting from that!
