After having a great run of wedding planning - we got to an area where we could just hit our heads against a wall - FLORISTS! Ugh! We met a dynamic woman who had beautiful centerpieces at a bridal show but was pricey and unable/willing to
entertain something else more creative, more affordable. We met with a family friend who runs a floral department at a local grocery store - her ideas weren't very creative and kept coming back to roses and the price went up with each
rose. We met with the hotel's preferred vendor for flowers - they were NOT helpful at ALL - they didn't make one single suggestion instead had us show them photos which they quoted as seen (very high prices) and didn't offer a more creative or less
affordable option. We were ready to give up and order flowers from Sam's online until a friend from work referred me to the florist we met with today - he was WONDERFUL! I had sent him a lengthy email about what we wanted, a rough estimate
of our budget and my desire to find someone who is creative, willing to work with more affordable flowers than whatever is expensive and/or out of season. He was dynamic, willing to work with our budget and had fantastic ideas! His
initial quote was a bit higher than we would have liked but he immediately came up with ways to trim the budget WITHOUT triming too many pieces and/or lessening the impact that they flowers will have on our wedding day. I couldn't be happier!
I've about gotten the wedding program where we want it - I'm still dealing with how to dress up the front page.
Our musical line up for our Nuptial Mass has been solidified. I'm disappointed that our church organist wont be playing our wedding (she will be away at a conference) but she hired a dynamic organist from another parish to fill in for
her. Here's our musical line up:
Bridal party processional: Love_Divine_All_Loves_Excelling
My processional song: Mouret_Rondeau
The responsorial is actually a hymn that will be sung in responsorial fashion (it's a nod to the Domincan Order - our parish is a Dominican parish and not a diosean parish): Dominican_Magnificat
We are using the Celtic Alleluia: Alleluia
For the presentation of the gifts: THe_Prayer
Communion hymn: One_Bread_One_Body
Presentation of flowers to Mary: Ave_Maria
Recessional (only the music - this wont be sung): Go_To_The_World
