How do you combine your culture/backgrounds on a day-to-day basis?

Since moving in w/my FI last year I notice I eat a lot less "asian" foods (mostly b/c I don't know/have the recipes my parents use). Sometimes it makes me sad b/c I feel like I'm slowly losing my Chinese heritage through food (and like many other cultures - food is a BIG part of our background). FI also doesn't really like Chinese food that much so that part doesn't help. That said - I don't cook any Japanese or Russian food for him...so...I guess it goes both ways!

I share some overlap with you, Kaytana. I have been eating a lot less Chinese food since the wedding, mostly due to me not knowing how to cook a lot of the stuff my mom makes. I guess another cultural thing I've had DH adopt to is taking off shoes at the entrance of our home; it's typical for most Asians I know not to wear shoes in the house.

I've learned a lot of Indian recipes from my mom so I try to cook as much as I can...it makes me sad too that sometimes I can't remember what we used to eat on a regular basis.  My FI will come with me to temple or random festivals if I ask him to and sometimes with me even asking.  Fortunately I love my religion and culture and I keep that going.  Unfortunately, FI isn't very cultural or religious so I don't know much about his Filipino/Catholic side.  I encourage him to go to church (I'd go with him) and learn Tagalog and stuff but he's just not that interested.
