According to tradition, the bride and groom are supposed to save the top tier of their wedding cake, freeze it, and then eat it on their one year anniversary.

What did you do with the top tier of your wedding cake (or planning to do)? We personally did not save the top tier... we just served it to our guests. :)

nope. we ate it the next day. :) it wouldn't taste good in a year anyway, so it would just be a waste. instead, we're going to buy the same cake for our 1 year, that way it'll still taste yummy! :)

Nope, not planning on it!

We'll be flying around all over the place and I don't think cake does well being defrosted then frozen up again over and over LOL

We told our reception site that if they needed to, they could cut the top tier but they didn't so we froze it. We ate it after 1 month. We didn't trust saving it for a year. I wanted to get the top tier recreated for our 1st anniversary but we weren't in town.

One year old cake sounds kind of gross. I'd prefer to just get a smaller cake, or serve the leftovers at the post-wedding brunch.

I don't think I know anyone who's done it. It seems like a waste of freezer space.

I plan on saving at least a slice. Our wedding planner did it for her wedding and said the cake tasted just as good as the first bite. I think the key is to wrap it really well to avoid freezer burn.

I plan on doing it, if only just a slice. Whether or not I will be able to stay away from it for a year is another question though.

We had the miniature 3" individual mouse cake for each guest. There were 2 extra pieces left at the end of the reception, and I told the waitstaff at the resort to pack them up so that DH and I could enjoy them during our honeymoon. It wouldn't have made it back to San Francisco anyway!

We're planning on eating ours after 6 months. One of my BM's saved hers for a year but it was moldy and they couldn't eat it.

Hmmm... I just can't see the point in it. Maybe I am way too practicle! I actually decided on the bakery when I talked to the owner and she said she thought that tradition was silly... ;)
