Hi,

what prenatal vitamins do you take? DO you have any side effects?

I'm not pregnant yet, but Im getting my doby ready and bought the Nature Made® Prenatal Multi + DHA, 150 Softgels at costco but they make me sick. I got stomach cramping and nausea. I only took for for three days because the cramps were too much. i felt I was dying. it was horrible. It also has a horrible fish smellm I felt that I was burping it all day long.  Im going to get rid of them because I cannot take them.

Nature Made® Prenatal Multi + DHA, 150 Softgels

I just bought the target brand of prenatal gummy multivitamins dietary supplements but I am afraid of opening the bottle thinking that it will make me sick too. this one has DHA too ( I think thats the fish stuff)

Hi what prenatal vitamins photo 3424452-1

Unfortunately, the exact vitamin that didn't work for you is perfect for me - I've never had a problem with any fish or burping either - so sorry you had a problem with them!

When in doubt, ask your doctor - I have a couple of different vitamin deficiencies that have to be addressed as well, so I still take a bit of a cocktail when it comes to vitamins =)

I take the Nature Made softgels you have listed, however I take them right before bed to avoid any stomach issues. Even with my nausea they've been pretty easy on my stomach.

If you decide to take the gummy ones read the label. Most do not contain calcium in fear that a child will find them and eat a whole bunch. If it doesn't contain calcium you'll need to get a calcium supplement to take with them. Also, be sure to read the label to see how many chews you need to take to match what you'd be getting in natures made. I know one brand I looked at had me taking 4-6 a day to get everything I needed.

I take the 'VitaFusion Prenatal Gummies plus DHA' & I LOVE them. I tried & tested a few different ones, and these are by far my favorite & they are just simply easy to take (I kinda look forward to taking the... Yummy).

I also take the VitaFusion Calcium gummies too (see milkgals advice!)

I started out taking the gummies but they're expensive so now I take the target brand prenatal. Along with B6 and Vitamin E.

Were you taking the Naturemade ones with food? The bottle says to take them with food so I take mine with lunch every day and I've had no problems with nausea or burps at all. But maybe you just need to find one that best suits you.

Thank you so much for the advise. Im sorry but this is my fisrt time taking prenatals and I do not really have anyone to ask other than my PW friends :)

Claire27,  I took the Naturemade ones with a full stomach, the first day it was no problem other than the burps. the second day, the stomach cramping was aweful. My doctor said any would do the trick.

milkgal, you are correct, the gummy ones i purchased do not have calcium and it says to take 2.

CheekyMar, It says that it has no IRON - do you take Iron? It says that it is best to refrigerate after opening. Do you do that?

DansMrs,  the target gummy has B6 2.5 mg (100%) in E -15IU(5%). How much do I have to take.

I just ate the 2 gummys and they are delish :)

I'm taking the B6 because it's supposed to help lengthen the LP. I am taking the E for heart health, metabolism, and blood circulation not for TTC benefits.

I take a generic similar to DansMrs.  But my dr. and my RE didn't care that I was not taking the ones with DHA.  I don't do fish and have heard similar complaints from some people about what it does to their bodies so I just decided it wasn't worth it - esp. when the drs. were not concerned. It may be worth talking to yours to see if they say the same. Maybe that's all you need to keep the prenatals from bothering your stomach!
