I know that this should be the least of my worries but, has anyone on progesterone noticed weight gain or weight loss?

I am not on progesterone but I have low prosterone and the weight changes can be a lot. In my research I didnt see taking progesterone made you gain or lose but I am sure it can happen.

Low progesterone symptoms:

The problem with progesterone imbalances is the symptoms typically mimic those of other disorders. Besides infertility and pregnancy loss, low progesterone symptoms can include:

Mood swings
Depression
Insomnia
Appetite changes
Weight changes
Irritability
Lack of concentration
Anxiety
Fatigue
Frequent menstruation
Irregular menstruation
Low sex drive
Migraines
PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)
Vaginal dryness
Painful intercourse

it's really hard to tell if the weight gain (which is very little, mostly bloat) is from the prgoesterone or being on betrest/sitting on my ass eating ice cream =) I've been on it for  month now, my jens fit perfectly...if I don't button them.

I would *think* that when your progesterone gets higher - You wouldn't experience weight gain (maybe weight loss) because you are leveling out.  I know that low progesterone leads to weight gain..

But who knows!! Meds are weird!!!

Keturah,

So have they been able to level you out?  If so, did that cause you to loose weight?  I have gained about 8 - 10 pounds since all of this started and nothing has changed in my diet and exercise so I attribute the gain to my Progesterone/PCOS.

Like you said, I am not really trying to focus on loosing it (just keeping up healthy eating and exercise) but it would be nice for it to happen while we are waiting for something to work! :)

I honestly believe I have low progesterone and just mentioned that to my Dr. I have nearly ALL of those symptoms (except my periods are regular as can be and if I have PCOS I have not been diagnosed) and this has only been happening since I went off the pills so I really think this is the problem. I have never been so heavy in my life and nothing else has changed in my lifestyle (And I've had my thyroid ruled out).

ccia84  I just started taking them about 4 days ago. I haven't gained anything so far but I do walk a lot and "try" to eat healthy foods most of the time. Only time will tell i guess. i didn't realize how common having low progesterone was. I wonder why this happens?
