I have to warn you, if you're faint of heart, or in the least bit modest, or even a little high-maintenance, read no further.  But if you want a quick, almost pain-free, cheap, no-nonsense Brazilian (or regular bikini -- make sure you tell her before she starts though) wax, try the International Salon on 1714 Sansom in Center City.

It's like the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld -- excellent wax, but it's very no-frills service.  They don't take appointments, so, depending on when you get there, you might have to wait a bit.  There's no soothing music or comfy furniture, but it is clean, and Emma, the owner/main waxer, used to be a nurse.

A full Brazilian is only $35 (but, if you have a little more hair than the average bear, it can be more).

You either love it or hate it, but it's so quick that you don't really have much time to even think about what's going on.  Just thought I'd share because it's kind of a little diamond in the rough.

I have been in there, to get my nail done.... you are right! They are no-nonsense women!! I kinda got intimated by them. Maybe after I work up the courage to get my 1st downstair waxing I might go there after b/c you can not beat that price.

Wow that price is great....I got to Moments in Mt Laurel, NJ and they are expensive but the price goes down each month you go.

my moh gets it done and she tried this place. she said it's own for the "down town" waxing.

Wow, $35 sounds like such a deal there. I am thinking of doing this for the HM... i dunno, I'm so nervous!!! There is just so much potential for this to be extremely painful... but thanks for the info, Meg!!
