Hi Ladies - your inspiration boards have been great. My wedding is in September 2010 and I keep going back and forth about the color scheme. I can't decide between

a) purple, gold & ivory/white

b) purple, green & ivory/white

I thought the purple and green can look too festive (like Mardi Gras or birthday party!) - but I feel confident about the purple and gold looking elegant and sophisticated. Our wedding is in a ballroom and depending on the cost, I plan to have pipe and drape around the room with purple uplighting. The centerpieces are tall and low and the primary flower is a purple orchid. Oh- I must mention my fiance insists on him & his groomsmen to wear a GRAY tux!! If we go with purple, I was thinking of violet BM dresses from Alfred Angelo (strapless) -- but they are kind of bright purple/violet and if we went with purple/gold .. I feel safe using gold for the BM dresses. soo many things depend on the color scheme and i need your help! Thanks

i think that a grey modern tux would look very nice with purple gold and ivory- it would be better suited for daytime though.

Im a plum and apple green, with fushia accents. It didnt turn out Mardi-gra'ish at all.

How about using both? My main colors are purple, gold, and nacy blue, with hints of ivory, brown, and lime green!

Pghbride2010, you and I share a dilemma!

My planner/florist and FI thinks that we need to add green to our color scheme. I am still not sure if I want to add add green yet. I initially thought of Mardi Gras too but I think with the right shade of green and in moderation, it could work well. Actually, I have been attracted to hues of pink and think it would also compliment the purple very well (I have lots of pics of that combo on my page, if you want to see). Like you, I am using lots of orchids, many of which come in pink or green (cymbidiums).

In terms of using gold, there is no doubt that purple and gold spells royalty. However, we have been hesitant to use gold since my FI also wants to wear grey. The grey and gold may clash. I think silver accents will better tie the purple and grey together. Not to mention that using silver as opposed to gold just seems fresher and more contemporary, IMO. If you really love the gold accent, maybe you can convince your FI to go with navy suits instead!
