5 Places you Shouldn't Cut Costs

Every wedding has a budget, and that means sacrificing a little here and there. But skimping in these 5 areas could spell disaster on your big day.

We definitely aren't cutting on our wedding rings.. FI's will be around $300-400.. mine, when all said and done, will be about $6k..

Davids bridal dress.. but I love it, so it wasn't a "skimp"

We're not cutting costs on food..

Wish we had the money for a videographer.. definitely not cutting cost on a photog

And... b/c of such an expensive wedding, and b/c of losing $3k from postponing the wedding, we will be cutting costs on our honeymoon.. erg.

I would have loved to have an incredible dress, but I could not justify the costs of something expensive.  If you can find something you feel beautiful in for less money, don't feel like you need to spend a lot.

It's so hard to say where to cut costs and where not to. Different things are important for different people. For me and DH, the rings were not at the top ~ I got a nice set that has 4 small stones in the center instead of 1 large and it's up-gradeable to a large single stone in the future. We decided to do that for our 1-year anni.

The photog was one area I refused to cut costs - but that was super-important to me. A videog was not so we cut it out altogether and a freind offered to do it - I love what he shot and don't regret it at all.

I was more than happy with the dress I found and ended spending $1K on it. And as far as the honeymoon goes - not that important to us either - we got a deal on that as well.

Making sure the music is good is what is remembered by guests. This is often over looked, greatly appriciated when good and awful when bad.

Food, not always remembered as much as we like

I agree with everything!

Ditto! I think that the only skimp here is the food... BUT it will still be good, we just didn't choose the fish and Filet Mignon....

I agree with jessie that different things are important to different people...

1.  rings:  not a priority, it will give us a stepping stone to work on for our anniversary... plus being legally wed already I would like to save my first set for first daughter, get a nice set for the renewal which will go to our second daughter, and so forth... so upgrading over the years is ideal to us...

2.  dress:  again, not a top priority in terms of allowing thousands of dollars under our circumstances, yes, I want the "aw" moment... but I think I can get it and everything I want with a decent price if I shop well... I mean what girl can't find a 10,000 dress that she loves - that's our ENTIRE budget!

3.  food:  okay, very important to us  but that still doesn't mean we're going to fork it out blind... we'll be hunting for good quality food at an "affordable" rate...

4.  photo/video: well I finally agree... but not because I think the writer is "right" but this is on my TOP priority list... pictures first and foremost, so as usually I will be looking for a great deal but am willing to dish the money to be sure its GREAT quality... I would love a videoshot but am a bit  more lenient maybe a hobbiest or friend could do a job we would be happy with.

5.  honeymoon:  well... I'm in total disagreement... though I'm sure there are a few brides that have this on the top 5 most important things I have  yet to meet one...
