I understand how a registry helps guests, but I just can't bring myself to do one - it almost feels like begging!!

@ elundari that is quite alright; however, I believe that a closed mouth don't get fed and thus am surely doing a honeymoon registry. I have no reason to feel like I am begging when we are spending thousands on our wedding but if that is how you feel then so be it hey! ;)

A registry is actually a very helpful tool for your guests who wish to give gifts. Friends naturally want to give an item they are certain the couple want and need. I absolutely do not consider this begging. A friend who asks to see your registry when in a store is there to buy you a gift, and wants to know what you have chosen. It is also helpful because it makes the process so easy, and keeps friends from wondering if they gave the right thing. I have used them often and have loved knowing that the bride would be excited about receiving a gift that she really wants.

@ nubianqueen; I totally agree with you. How is that begging? We spent thousands on our wedding, did thoughtful stuff for our guests, friends, and family, and they are not mind readers. How are they going to know what do you need? No one likes to receive something you don't need or the same item 10 times and having to return stuff to the stores, etc. A gift registry is a big help for guests and the easiest thing for them. They just pick the gift according to their budget and they can feel good knowing you are going to love their gift because that's just what you wanted. It's not like you are on your knees asking for a gift. It is a given that they are going to give you a present, so it is way better one you like.

No one wants to give a present that they know you are going to hate or simply don't need.
