If you are going with a specific color from a specific designer, try your best to order all of your BM gowns at the same time. This ensures they are all from the same dyelot and the colors will match perfectly.

A friend of mine had one bridesmaid wait until the last minute to order her gown and it was a slightly different color than the rest. I guess the manufacturer made a couple of tweaks to the color during that time.

I agree with PP. I did that b/c I was afriad of the different color issue and that they would be sold out. I ended up getting free shipping for ordering in bulk (I had 8 BMs). Score!

This has been my least favorite part of planning so far. Some bridesmaids want more choices, some want me just to tell them what to wear, including shoes and handbag!

I have had great luck negotiating a 15% bulk discount by ordering all 6 dresses at the same store, though :-) I highly recommending asking your dress shop for a bulk discount, or free shipping. It's definitely worth a try.

This part of planning has actually been a nightmare for me, and I want it to be over with. I*m about ready to just make my girls wear potato sacks and call it good!!! LoL I*ve been so frustrated with this process! I have 4 bridesmaids and each of them have completely different body types! I*m dealing with a size 2 who can wear and look FABULOUS in absolutely everything she puts on, a size 12 who has a HUGE chest, a size 16 with a huge chest, and a size 20. We spent 3 hours at David's Bridal just trying on long dresses...never even made it to the tea length or short dresses that day because we were tired, hungry, and discouraged. What looks good on one of them, doesn't work for the others because of their boobs, or we found one that I loved for all of them but the size 2 didn't like it because she thought it was too much material for her small figure (The dress looked stunning on all 4 of them). But I*m trying to be nice and not be a bridezilla, and I realize that if they're paying for their dresses they want to be comfortable and happy with them, and I want them to be happy with them and look good! I*ve come to the conclusion that a standard straight across strapless dress with no empire detail or band up near the chest area is a good style for all of them. We've been looking a strapless dresses that have accent bands around the waist as opped to near the bust area, and we'll be going back to David's Bridal next month to try on short and tea length! My wedding gown was the 2nd gown that I tried on... I never expected bridesmaid dresses to be more difficult than my wedding dress!!

@AmyL619 If you're at DB, they probably have lots of good options in the same fabric and colour - if it's really hard to find all of them one dress that isn't a nightmare for someone, why not do four different-but-similar dresses that are the same length? It might make your life a lot easier.

I'm probably wearing a bridesmaid's dress myself as my wedding dress, so what colour and style my two attendants wear depends on what colour and style I pick for myself first, but they can pick the same dress or different ones in the same colour and fabric if that works better. I don't want them to be uncomfortable at the wedding, after all.

No need for stress - I told my bridesmaids to pick out a little black dress that they love, or wear one they already own. I'll see the dresses for the first time on my wedding day(I told them to surprise me - I'm sure they'll look beautiful), and everyone looks good in a little black dress that they can pick out themselves to suit their individual body types. Not into black? Show them a colour swatch send them on their way - only step in if they really want your opinion or need help locating the right colour (or if you think you'd all have a blast going dress-shopping together).

Anyone have any idea where those orange-y bridemaids dresses are from? I LOVE them and have been having the hardest time finding cute dresses in that color scheme ...
