Great info especially since many people don't know where to start but I don't agree with the beta or goldfish idea.  Many flowers or accessories that people put into the vases are toxic to the fish and at the end of the night - they go home with people who are not properly set up for them or else ?????  I don't think it's a god idea at all.

I'm on the lookout for something tall and not too expensive, but also something that can maybe be reused. I've seen the tall vases with twigs and I like that idea. Does anyone have other ideas?

We are doing vases  (3 on each table) 4,7,9 inches tall with orchids underwater and floating candles on top- we priced it out to see how much it would be and it was about $30 per table.  So we went out and found the 7 and 9 inch vases at the $1 store and the 4 in vase we found at michaels for 2.50.  Then we found silk orchids, at michaels (we used a 20% off entire order coupon) they were $4 each- we will use 1 stem per table, we tried them underwater when we had people over and everyone told us how beautiful they were- no one knew they were fake.  Then the floating candles we bought the packs at michaels- it took a few trips since we wanted to use our 40% off coupons on each pack.  In total each table will cost us total is about 10.50 per table.
