PW Guide Article: DIY Tissue Pomanders

Love!  Was going to have our florist do the pomanders but now I may be DIY-ing it instead!  So gorgeous!

I made something similar to these, but used fake flowers. I think tissue might have been easier than hot glueing so many flowers! I like how they turned out and am thinking about hanging them from the canopy above our dance floor!

Our place settings really needed something on top of the napkins, so I made small tissue pom flowers to finish the look. 

these are soooo cute, but very time consuming, 2 evenings and only one done.  made wit 5" ball though thinking of doing 16 2 diff colors but now i think i will only do 8 in one color. very cheap though wit tissue paper.

I made these this week and they are so easy and so cheap!! And they look amazing! 

I was just going to make them for decorating for my shower, but now I am going to make them for the wedding!

You attach the ribbon before you stick the flowers on. You cut the ribbon to the desired size. Then you shove it in with either a chop stick or a pencil. Chop sticks work best. Or even with a wire.

And you are sooo welcome everyone. I'm just happy we can all help one another out and make the expense not so bad.

I love these and am very interested in making these as pew markers for my wedding, however, I have gone to our local craft stores and the tissue paper is 99 cents per 10 sheet package.  Given the 72 sheets it takes to make one pomander, it would be quite expensive to make.  I was wondering if you had an on-line tissue paper source since you were able to make them so inexpensively.  Also what gauge wire did you use?  Thanks in advance.

Hi Loretta. Check out www.spiritline.com for the tissue. They are called parade pomps under the Parade Items section, and are $2.75 for 300 pre-cut sheets. I used these and it worked out perfectly. I have pictures of the first couple that I made in my bio under DIY, so you can see how they came out. I used a 22g wire, but I know you can use a thinner wire as the 22 is pretty thick. Hope this helps!

Hi Sara-Thank you so much for the info; great source and very affordable.  I looked all over the site to find a color wheel or other guide for viewing the colors but never found one?  Do you have any idea where that is?  I need green or pink.  Thanks again.

Alright, the green they have on there is a dark green. I've checked around at the other sites that sell the tissue and they currently don't have the lighter green or any of the pinks. Try www.paradepomps.com . This is who makes them, however, on their main page it says they sell in full cases only, which is 24 packages. Theres three options with this. A.) You can try to get around that when you are in the store section and selecting the individual packs and putting in the quantity you need, even if it doesn't add up to the 24. I haven't gone through the checkout to see if it will let you go through with less than that. If it in fact doesn't let you, then you can B.) Call or email them to see if they will allow you to do a custom order. Or C.) Get the 24 packs and then sell whatever you don't use.
