Haha I do all these things! I have a little OCD ;) When I shake my ring to see if the prongs are lose people look at me like I'm crazy :) I second on the insurance I just insured my ring with Jewelers Mutual now I have piece of mind when I wear it....

Don't put your e-ring in ammonia if it's white gold, ammonia will wear the rhodium plating off white gold (white gold is plated with rhodium to give it that white white finish).

For super quick, every day cleaning, just take a soft bristle toothbrush and give it a quick brush under water.  Remember to pay extra attention to the bottom of your diamond b/c it affects the fire and brilliance of your stone!

I didn't know about white gold and ammonia. I've been using ammonia and haven't seen a difference, so maybe it's not too late. What should I use instead? Any convenient household products like ammonia?

I use windex to clean mine, shines like...well...a diamond lol but it looks great, I also take it off at night so the dead skin cells don't collect on it, sorry that's kind of gross lol, and I don't wear it in the shower so the soap scum doesn't collect :)
