That's me and my father dancing! Punam Bean was our photog and we are featured in the Real Weddings section of this website as well. My dad and I danced to "Love is a Many Splendored Thing."

I didn't do a father daughter dance, but if I did.... of these father daughter dance songs, I think "Lean On Me" would be most fitting since my dad loves Motown. I also really love the songs "Dance With My Father Again" or "Hero" but I think they might be a little too serious for father daughter dance songs... I prefer something a little more upbeat and happy for a wedding!

 

My mom wanted my dad and I to dance to a really sappy song (like Butterfly Kisses or Daddy's Angel) and I said no enough times that she relented. I don't want to get all overly-emotional and sob at my wedding, so I prefer something more upbeat. We decided on "You Must've Been a Beautiful Baby" by Bobby Darin.

Of all the songs to narrow down, I think father daughter dance songs can be the toughest.  This is because there are so many songs which have a lovely sentiment, but then they get too romantic, making them not the best choice for father daughter dance songs.   

The ones that are PERFECT father daughter sance songs are often either overused (Butterly Kisses, for example) or, too sappy.  

Some of my favorite ideas for father daugher dance songs are:

-In My Life by the Beatles

-Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkle

-I Hope You Dance by Leann Womak

When thinking about father daughter dance songs ... my top choices are definitely anything from Credence Clearwater or Steppenwolf! My dad is a rocker!

My favorite father daughter dance songs are My Wish by Rascal Flatts and You've Got a Friend by James Taylor.

I really want to use "the best day" by George Strait even though its about a boy since it REALLY accurately portrays my dad and my life together, but if that gets vetoed I will probably want "isn't she lovely" by Stevie Wonder. If I leave it up to my dad though, he will probably pick the Beach Boys "fun fun fun".

what is you dont want to dance with your father....like his not walking you down the aisle. who do you dance with???
