I have never had great valentine's days... they have always ended up fairly rotten, with or without a b/f... however, I made it a point to do something cool or nice for someone else. It's silly to sit at home feeling bad about yourself, when there are so many people who need to feel loved.

The coolest thing I ever did was in college for a goofy friend of mine. He posted pictures of himself all over campus to be goofy, asking girls to send him notes. I sent him these valentines every day and signed them from your S.A. On valentine's day, I sent him on a scavenger hunt all over campus, and at the end I had baked him an apple pie, and we went to a show together. It was goofy and fun, and for both of us single folk, it ended up being one of the greatest valentine's days ever :) It helped me to learn that having fun and doing something special for others is really what holidays like this are about :)

My greatest Valentine's day was last years. I flew to the west coast to surprise my boyfriend, whom had no idea I was coming. We hadn't seen each other since Christmas. He would always complain he never liked Valentine's Day and thought it was silly. That was until I showed up at his door with chocolate and dinner in hand!

It was romantic, fun, memorable and soooooo worth it.

This year even though we are engaged we are still separated by distance. But I'm going to leave the surprises up to him!

The best gift I've ever received was from my fiancé. We decided to go to walgreens the day after valentines day, and he got me all the cute things and candy I wanted. The best part though, is that I got a date out of the deal, where we had fun browsing and being all sugared up and in love. It's our new tradition! :)

My best Valentine's Day was several years ago, when my now fiance and I were living in different countries. We'd fortunately see each other rather regularly, but I was still bummed to not be spending Valentine's Day with him. He mailed me a mason jar filled with miniature envelopes and wrapped chocolate candies. Each mini envelope contained a love note or memory - despite my desire to open them all at once, I instead opened one every morning when I woke up.

My favorite Valentines Day and Valentines Day gift were with/from my fiancee. My absolute favorite Valentine's Day was when we first started dating and he was about to be deployed to Afghanistan with the military. We made a candle lit dinner (champagne, crab legs, and even made a heart shaped cake). He gave me a compilation cd of all of the songs he loves that makes him think of me. He put in the cd and he just held me as we danced. He was to deploy the next week I believe, so it was the most treasured time I had with him. I cried as he comforted me that so long as i listened to that CD i would be able to remember this day and our time together whenever I missed him.

To this day, when I put in the cd I still see us dancing in the candlight and know that he loves me!

The best Valentine's Day gift I ever gave was to my now fiance. His greatest memories are on his grandfather's lake and all the wonderful things he did growing up there. Swimming, fishing and hiking. I had his mom send some pictures of the lake to me and I created a painting of the lake. He was shocked b/c at the time he had no idea I could paint (I didn't think I was good at painter either) so it was a sweet surprise. It now hangs in our living room.

The best gift my now fiance gave me was a Tiffany necklace.  We had only been going out a few months and I knew that he was financially strapped at the time, so I wasn't expecting much.  But when he gave me the little blue box I was ecstatic.  I had never received anything from Tiffany's before, so I was very surprised and happy.

We never were big on celebrating Valentine's Day, but I guess my best Valentine's Day was in 2008.  It was 6 months into our relationship and it was my first V-Day with my future hubby. :)
