These articles lack any real advice! They are bland and completely useless!

I second that. Most articles provide nothing general and quite obvious thoughts.

You didn't mention titanium, which is a popular option, especially among men, since it is so rugged!  (It can also be polished to look like white gold.)

Ditto ladies!  I love the idea of the articles, but never read them because I do not find them helpful.  Has anyone thought of offering to pay for them? Not a lot, but by offering authorship and a publication you might have a draw for real writers. I am a writer and editor and would love to do this full-time.

One thing that the article should mention is that titanium (which WAS mentioned) is so strong it cannot be resized and will forever have to remain the size it is when purchased. Just something to keep in mind if your FH has any tendancies for weight fluctuations, etc.

Palladium is not there. It's pretty popular too because it's a precious metal like platinum, but more dull, and more affordable.

Actually, tungsten carbide is the hardest of metals known of right now. Titanium unfortunately as hard as it is will start to scratch just like gold, it'll become worn very quickly if he works with his hands or in a job that will cause damage to it. On the other hand tungsten carbide will undergo a lot more damage for a very long time, and it can be polished to a gold-like shine while even if a titanium ring is polished will scratch. Neither titanium or tungsten carbide can be resized. I originally bought my FI a titanium ring and working in aerospace it looked just like my mom's gold wedding band (ten years old) after only a couple months. I later bought him a tungsten carbide ring and it hasn't taken any damage in fact he broke a glass aquarium with it and started to dent the aircraft parts at work, that's how strong this metal is.

I agree, the article topics are good, but the content is not  satisfying...
