Should You Register for China?

Registering for china is something all of our mothers did, but does that mean we should too?

Yeah.... ummm... great article? I wonder how many people actually registered for china? We did but not the high end china. It's everyday china that we adore!

It seems the trend of the future is not hosting guest or especially not using china... or couples "already have everything they could ever possibly need" and register for monetary gifts.

I registered for really nice china and got it as a wedding gift. My aunt also gave me 2 set of nice china that she purchased overseas while living in Japan. However, china just happens to be important to me. If it wasn't, I wouldn't even worry about registering for it. IMO, people should just register for what it is they want or need.

Let's make this not so lame:

POST YOUR CHINA IF YOU HAVE IT!

Otherwise, tell us why you skipped it.

We're almost definitely not registering for china. China is just so expensive and there are a lot of other things that we need or would be able to enjoy every day.  Plus we live in a one bedroom condo and don't have a lot of space to store items we're not going to use regularly.

We opted out of this registry item. Yes, it's beautiful but honestly, we'll NEVER use it. The dining wear we use when company comes over is constantly changing because I'm always redecorating, changing colors, themes, etc. in our home. Plus, my grandma has a very full set of china that my sister and I will inherit when it's her time. I would absolutely nowhere to keep it all! I'd rather people spend money on other items we need or give us a money becuase all we really need after living together for 3 years is a second bathroom and a whole lot of new floors!

We skipped registering for china for the time being.  We already have a gorgeous set of fancy dinner plates, salad plates and bowls from Anthropologie which serves us well for any entertaining we do (usually just small dinner parties, 6 people tops).  China simply isn't something that we need right now if you take our lifestyle into account (well, that and I have limited kitchen storage space and would rather use it for appliances).  We aren't planning on starting a family so we'll never be the figureheads of a large family for holidays.  If that changes, we hope to be at a point in our life where we can buy our own china.

If we were registering for it, this would be our pattern:
