Being a bit tight on cash, we were not sure what to get for our parents. We decided to make them a certificate to be our first-ever dinner guests at our home and are planning to make them a big dinner when we return from our honeymoon. They are thrilled to be able to get together in an intimate setting to talk more about wedding memories and hear about our honeymoon. Plus, it will be special for this. I was so caught up in trying to get something expensive to try to repay them for all the expenses they put into the wedding. When it came down to it, though, they were more pleased to simply spend time with us!

Helpful!  I like how it is broken down by couple, then each parent.

Very helpful! I love the idea for supper invite.  I am hand embroidering a handkercheif for my mom and dad as a keepsake.  They are cheap and so easy to make if you can work a needle and thread, you can do this.  :)  Here is what I am embroidering on them:

My mom's: To dry your tears, as you have always dried mine. Love, Tildy (my nickname)

My dad's: To remember the day you gave me away. I love you, Tara Jean

This way they get a homemade keepsake and I'm not spending a lot of money on something that will get put into a drawer.  We will also get them something a bit bigger (again, loving the dinner idea), but this should get the tears flowing when I give them each theirs the morning of the wedding.

This may sound like a dumb question but am I supposed to get gifts for my parents AND my future in-laws??? Or just my parents since they are contributing to the wedding???

The spa idea is perfect. I have the same question as melissa2306- do I buy it for both sets of parents?

my son and his   wife surprsed us and  the  brides parents with a gift certificate to a spa  and lunch or  breakfast whichever we preferred ,during  a  break in the dancing they called us up and  told us how much they appreciated all we did for them and wanted to give us  the spa treatment it was a nice gesture on their part and there  were a lot of oohs and  ahs  from the guests(i've been to a  lot of  wedding  but never heard anyone do this ) ,  now a few months later my other son is getting married so i wonder if they will also surprize us.  in answer  to melissa2306  & kellybean  i think its a good  idea to get both couples a  gift,i'm sure if you look online  you  can find  great deals or even coupons. congrats to all!

I would love to do something so nice for both of our parents as they have been so phenominal. We have 3 sets of couples to buy for though and moeny is tight. We have an aunt and uncle that have been so incredible that had it not for them, we wouldn't have been able to pull off the wedding we wanted. Any ideas that are unique? The picture frame idea is nice but I feel like we can't get it to them until we get our pictures from the wedding. I would like to give them a gift the night of or the night before.
