So seeing as we are a year away (OMG), it is time to start talking with caterers.  Has anyone started to plan their menus or been looking at the foods that are in season as a guide?  I am planning on doing butternut squash soup.  yummy.  Also are there any family recipes you want incorporated?  My mom has an incredible meatball and red sauce recipe we will use for the cocktail hour.

Yes we have!  We actually met with our caterer a few months ago and had our first tasting.  We picked the beef (Angus strip steak), veggie dish, some appetizers, and a pork tenderloin.  The chicken dish options (all five of them) were not impressing my parents a bit! lol  So we're in the process of finding some receipes and scheduling another tasting. :)

I think your idea of incorporating some family recipes is awesome!  We might have a traditional Ugandan tea during our dessert...but we'll see if the caterer is able to recreate. :)

We are just having Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans or corn.. also we are thinking about ham or roast beef. For appitizers (sp?) we are thinking about maybe candy apples... IDK though, not using a caterer, (can't afford one) so our menu is DIY.

We have sooo many choices for our cocktail hour and dinner.  I have yet to pick the actual menu but I know that I am having a mashtini station during cocktail hour because I LOVE potatoes...its the irish in me...haha.  We are also doing a carving station, most likely lamb and than we are having like 10 different apps to be passed.  For our actual dinner is where I am running into a problem because I am only able to pick 2 since I am not sending choices in my invites...so I know we are doing a filet migon and stuffed shrimp and maybe a chicken dish...I am kind of stuck, anyone else running into this problem?

We are having turkey dinner at our wedding.  It will be simple and yummy... who doesn't like turkey dinner???  Haha.

Our dessert table will be lots and lots of pies!
