Okay so yesterday FI, FSD and myself where in the grocery store picking up some last minute items for dinner. As we stand in the check out line FSD and I are goofing off and playing with each other when these two girls walk up behind us, they are carrying on their conversation when one stops and asks the other, “What issues do you have being biracial? Because I know that little girl (referring to FSD) is going to have so major issues!” I was thinking to myself I know she didn’t just fix her lips to say that, so I look back at her to let her know that she was crossing the line and she rolled her eyes at me so I just rolled my eyes back at her!

Well the other little skank says that she doesn’t have issues because her black mama instilled in her that it’s better to be black than to be anything else. What? Are you freaking kidding me? The nerve of this lady to assume that we don’t teach FSD about both of her ethnicities! I’m not her mother but I am minoring in Black Studies, this is what I do all day long and for some little trollop in the store to accuse FI and I of not making sure that she’s well aware of herself is ridiculous! She then launches into how black women really shouldn’t be dating outside of there race and that just because I had a child with someone outside of my race doesn’t mean that I have to be tied to them for the rest of my life. First of all take a look at FI, FSD and myself you can tell that FI is her father:

They were both idiots! I shouldn’t have let it bother me but it did. I guess I just don’t understand why people feel the need to question or comment on a relationship that has nothing to do with them. If you don’t agree then disagree silently don’t voice your opinion especially when it involves other people children!

craziness.  it is sad that there are people like that in the world.  we can't let them get to us.  our lives have nothing to do with theirs so their comments mean nothing.  i wish you had just turned around and said, i feel sorry for you.  ignorance.

When we got home I asked her if she heard what those two idiots were saying. She said that she didn't and wanted to know what they said. I dismissed it as adult stuff and she was like, "Ooooh they were talking nasty huh?!" I ignored her question and she was like, "Mmmm hmmm I knew it!" So I'm glad that she didn't hear anything but it still makes me sad that people are always going to critique you so you're damned if  you do damned if you don't!

she is just a stupid little girl with no morals or manners.  It is a shame her standards are so low, I just dont understand why she would make this kind of comment...but then again im sure she dosen't have a family.

You're right hautemama! She was ignorant and must not have come from a home that taught the importance of manners and decorum!

Wow!  That is a lot to unload on a complete stranger and her family.  Your daughter is beautiful and has loving parents, which is far more important than what race she is.  I agree with hautemama- clearly she wasn't taught to keep her comments to herself unless she is complimenting someone.

Wow... what is the world come to that people think it's ok to speak so ignorantly to complete strangers.  wow.   So sorry you had to deal with that.  Brush it off and turn the other cheek.  Your FSD is gorgeous and is lucky to have you a part of her life.. :)

Thanks Mrs.KC! I really felt for her because I don't want her (or my own children when I have them) to go through that. I think that at this point in time that people's opinions should have changed. I'm quite sure that if she had the opportunity to date outside of her race that she would. I think that people sometimes hate what they don't understand or don't have the opportunity to try!

Rude people suck.  I can't believe that is 2010 people aren't more accepting of each other. There is not one person in this county that can say that they are completely 100% anything.  Everyone is a mutt of some kind.
