For the ladies doing a 10 course meal, can i see your reception program? trying to see how far out i can push out serving the first meal before the guests start throwing forks at our heads since they're hungry.

FYI, cocktail hour " 6

BP intro at 7

BM, MOH speeches 7:15

Dinner 7:30

Should i move the speeches until later in the reception??

Yes. I think it would be better. Here's what I have :

cocktail/entrance pix taking: 6

BP intro: 6:45

Dinner: 7

After first course: first dance

After third course: speeches.

After fifth course: cake cutting

honestly, i think you're fine keeping the speeches where they are. :) dinner around 7:30pm for a chinese/vietnamese reception is actually normal. lol.

Oohhh table greetings!! i almost forgot about it. How could I !!! How long would it take for table greetings? i have 20 tables.. hmm... Slurpee has a a point. But i dont want to do everything before dinner starts.. guests might feel overwhelmed ? they need to be fed and relaxed first before we can get their attention ..hehehe...

I integrated everything into the food service, except the family intros.

I had a lineup of what I wanted when, and then had it all spaced out between the courses.  The best thing to do is have a DOC or point person to make sure each of your events happen and that they happen between food service.

So it was

  • wedding party intros & first dance
  • family intros
  • first course, 2nd course
  • speeches

then from there I let my DOC take over how to space out the rest of the events

i did toasting close to the end.  probably started around the 2nd to last course

great thread! i need to do this as well.

just curious, how long did it take for everyone to do their table greetings (how many minutes each table)? it seems like this is going to take us all night because we have so many tables...

my friend had 44 tables and it took about 2 hours. We are having 24-28 tables, so I'm guestimating 1 hr 15 min. Hopefully that's right.
