Are there ANY reception venues that don't require you to use their caterer? Most of the places I've found are charging upwards of $85/plate! That's ridiculous!

Not sure if you have a specific area in mind, but I know Edge of Webster and The Rialto do.  You still have to use their bar services, though.

Also there is a place at SLU- I'll have to find the name for you

Hi aj!

I'm having my reception at the Carpenter's Union Hall (near I-44 & Hampton Ave.), and we are allowed to bring in our own caterer (and bartender...and cake...etc.)- it is SO much cheaper!  We're using Catering by Georgianna...she has GREAT prices, and if you contact her, she may have other suggestions of which venues she's catered.  You can PM me with any questions; I'd be happy to help! :)

Good luck!

Thanks! I also just found out that the Sheldon allows you to bring your own caterer for $3/pp, which isn't terrible if I can find someone for like $50/pp - much better than the 85 I've been seeing!!!

Oh, you're trying to stay around $50 p.p?  My venue is around that, includes their catering, open bar, space rental, linens, parking, etc.  It is Grbic, you can see pictures in my profile, or by googling Grbic.

Well ideally, I'd like to be at like 20pp, but we all know that's a fantasy! :) Thanks for the tip!

This place is everything (including chair covers) for $35 pp.  I went there to look at it with my friend.  She didn't pick it because they didn't have a good place for her ceremony.  And she wanted to have ceremony and reception together. http://www.thefourseasbanquetfacility.com/index.php?p=382

Sisse, I think it is such a good deal.  And the guy who runs the place was so nice when we met with him.  When I went to look at it with my friend for her wedding it made me regret not looking there until after I booked my place.

Hello!

I am using The Edge of Webster and A Matter of Taste Catering.  Its telling me I cannnot post a link but its amatteroftastellc.vpweb.com  I am getting by with about $26 a person (Bar and Food).  We are doing open beer and wine for $13 a person.  My catering is all inclusive- with NICE disposable plates and utensils, two main, three sides, salad, homemade rolls all for $13 a person.  This food is AMAZING so dont get turned off by the price. The lady is wonderful to work with.  She offers so much for the price.

I am also using Cover Creations for my tablecloths.  I am getting the really nice satin clothes for $10 a table which is the cheapest out there.  She works from her home.  Her name is Dana Holmes, Cover Creations (314) 581-8538.  Again look up cover creations since I cannot put a link on here.

Hope this helps everyone!

Katie
