I have a question for you all: How are you saving money? My fi and I are trying to save money for our May 2011 wedding. We are having a tough time doing this. We have saved about a thousand dollars but that was just from a tax return. I have never been good at saving money, but I really have to now more than ever (my parents are not helping us )

Try putting aside 10% of each paycheck. I get my 10% in cash then walk my butt over to another bank and put it into a savings account (that way the savings account is in no way linked with my 'spending' accounts--I can't borrow or transfer out of it!)

I also save every $1 and $5 bill I get back as change when I buy anything. It's not a ton, but I've saved a little over $500 that way!

Im really bad at saving money too. So when I get any extra Im giving it to my dad and hes holding it for me so I cant get access to it. Were 100 % paying for our wedding and I spend like its my job. well w/ a $5000 budget you cant do that. Also I only allow myself to buy 1 thing a week off the used classifieds board. You wont believe how much you accumulate that way and its not all at once spending.
