So I am  in week 7 of working out 4 days a week. I get up at 5:30am and workout for 1.5hrs before I head to work....I have only lost a total of 4lbs? I seem to be yo-yoing in wieght.  I have been eating extremely well and am feeling slightly discouraged.  This does not mean that I will stop going to the gym, I am actually loving it and have never felt better BUT I can't help but be slightly disappointed.  So my question is...should I drop the scale all toghether? Maybe I am gaining muscle and thats why the needle isnt moving much? Should I just judge my progress by how I feel and how my close fit?

What are your thoughts and what has helped you to stay positive?

No don't be discouraged and seriously...stop looking at the scale!  There are going to be days that you will have water weight.  It's really how your clothes are fitting that I found more of a motivation for me.  I am losing an average of 2 to 3 pounds a month and I'm working out just as much as you. My pant sizes are seriously dropping!

Your body is not going to loose weight initally very fast, it is going to be a gradual change and YES you are going to get discouraged... DO NOT give up!! It took me almost a year to loose my 30 pounds... some weeks I wouldnt loose anything but I just kept trucking on... the weight WILL come off and you can do it!!!

I actually found the scale as an advantage to me. I weighed myself EVERY morning before doing ANY thing else. That way I knew throughout the day if I needed to be extra careful or if I could splurge a little when eating. I always managed to watch my portion size and drink a lot of water.

Since the wedding I really havent been very good. I have only gained 5 pounds but other things have take priority over the gym... I really need to get back into it...

Keep it up girl, your doing good!!

i definitely feel your frustration. i lose weight very slowly and tend to fluctuate, so i have a love/hate relationship with my scale. when it goes down, i love it and totally believe what it tells me. when it goes up, i ignore it because it doesn't know what it's talking about! but i try not to get too frustrated and instead, let it motivate me to keep going.

i do think it's important to keep track of non-scale successes as well to keep you motivated and not so disappointed if the scale doesn't move. i may not lose a lb every week, but if i check my measurements and see lost inches, if i feel that my endurance has increased, if i'm able to lift heavier weights or if i just feel better in my clothes, i know that all that hard work isn't in vain!

Ditto the all previous posters....

I'm in the EXACT SAME boat...... this is my 6th week, 5-6 days a week of 30-90 min EVERYDAY... i'm lost 6 pounds....

I only weigh once a week: and make sure to drink TONS of water the day before my weigh-in so it's a more accurate reading, as well as take a mild laxative to get rid of all the extra "weight" in waste..

I am in a similar situation...I seem to be gaining weight since going to the gym...Mine has only been like 3 weeks of workout, and my clothes are not fitting any better lol...it totally sucks...I am gonna keep on going with hopes one day I will see a change...you're right...it feels great, but I completely understand when results aren't showing...it will happen!
