School started last Tuesday, and I have yet to hear back from my certificate advisor. I am graduating in May, and I had only 2 classes left to take this semester in order to get my Gerontology Certificate with my degree. I got signed up for one
of the courses, but the other is an independent study course. I emailed my advisor way back at the end of December to politely remind her that she never got back to me about a definitive answer about how to cover that requirement (we had met in
November and she had said that it may be possible to use a prior class to cover that requirement, so I may not even need to take an independent study. And she said she would coordinate getting the independent study set up if I needed to take it). No
answer... Emailed her again second week in January.... She emailed Wednesday saying she would have an answer to me by the end of the week. Well it's now 1/23 and still no answer from her with 2 additional emails in between. I've taken the initiative to
contact two professors that could help me meet the content requirement for the independent study, but they haven't gotten back to me yet, and I assume I'd have better luck getting it set up if the university was backing me.
Last day to drop courses without it being on my transcript is Wednesday, last day to add is Friday-- so kind of nerve racking since I'm graduating this semester, so I have to cover my bases and take enough credits to meet my degree requirements,
and the independent study would cover 2 credits of those, but if I can't get signed up for the independent study, then I don't want to count on it and then not graduate!
Just really annoyed that she is not making me a priority right now. And not even an explanation of what is taking her so long. I emailed her again yesterday afternoon. If I don't get a response Monday morning, I'm calling her that afternoon.
Ridiculous!
