I mentioned in the other thread that I rented a 400mm f2.8 lens last weekend to shoot wild sea otters in action.  This lens is claimed to be one of the finest canon lenses, and I wholeheartedly agree.  It's hefty, long, big and about 8.5 lbs.  I don't know how I managed to get it AND a tripod on a small crowded boat, maneuvered through other passengers with cameras to get my shot, and handheld it half of the time, but I did it!  These are some of my favorite shots:
