What traditional outfits did you/will you wear to your wedding?
I'll be wearing a modern take on a Chinese cheongsam/qi pao (I never did distinguish the difference between the two). I'm getting it custom made with hot pink/fuschia satin and silver stitching. Here's a picture of a dress that is similar to the
color I want (picture is from Wedding Bee of another bride).
I also put a modern spin on the traditional Cheongsam/Chinese dress. I gave the dress a slightly mermaid shape and instead of the traditional high neck, I gave it a U shaped neckline. I had my dress custom made in Shanghai (thanks to
a friend's aunt!)
you can kind of see the mermaid shape of my dress in this pic
Agnes ... I seriously have the most boyish figure and somehow that dress managed to give me some sort of waist! If I could, I totally would've added a sash to the chinese dress to help define it more. That's why I was insistent on
having a sash on my white dress.
Thony ... did you have all of those outfits custom made? I love them all ... so beautiful! And your 1st chinese dress is quite sexy with the slit! ;)
kaytana - lol, I believe it's the same thing, but maybe I'm wrong? Googling didn't seem to help, heheh... I always thought "cheongsam" is the cantonese word and "qipao" is the mandarin word for it.
