What asian wedding traditions did you participate in or plan on having for your wedding?
So far the only Chinese tradition I'll be participating in is an outfit change during the reception. I do want to do a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, but my FI doesn't think it'll be fair to his parents (FFIL is Russian & English and FMIL
is Japanese).
My aunts are going to be giving me gold bracelets to wear when I change into my cheongsam. I'm going to wear like 6 bracelets per wrist! @__@ Also, we went and prayed to ancestors today since the wedding is this coming Saturday. I'm not sure if
this one's a tradition, but we will have lion dancers performing at the reception.
We are having several traditional Chinese elements for our wedding such as the tea ceremony, where I will wear my Cheongsam and wear like 20 gold bracelets and serve tea to our parents, siblings, aunties and uncles; the
dress change during the reception into my cheongsam; and the traditional 10 course Chinese banquet. Big fat Chinese Wedding status with the rate my wedding is going :D
