Yay after 32 long hours in hospital labor room, our little bambino Wesley Tyler was finally born vaginally today 11/29 @ 2pm. 7.5 lbs, 19.75" long.
Here is most of my delivery details:
I was scheduled for an induction 11/28 @ 8am. After checking in, they injected me with petocin and IV fluids. I was told that the induction would take appox. 12 hours before I start to be fully dilated. At 6pm (9 hours later) that
evening I was still only 2 1/2 - 3 cm dilated so our doctor decided to break my water, soon after I started to feel stronger contractions. 2 hours later I decided to take the epidural. So by 8pm after 12 more hours (24 hours total) that same
day I was still only 2 1/2 - 3 cm dilated but was able to catch a few hours of sleep. I was very disappointed so they told me to continue for another 6-12 hours and see how I progressed. By 2am this Sunday morning I was 5-6 cm dilated so I
thought by early morning I'd be at least 8cm and continued on and waited. By 8am that morning I was by my doct and was still only 5-6cm, I was so disappointed and upset and started crying since I've been in the labor room with petocin and IV for 24 hours
by that time. The reason the doct told me was that maybe since breaking the water the baby's head was stuck @ the cervix slightly sideways. The doct gave us 1 last option of injecting my placenta with sterile water and increasing the petocin and
wait for another 2-3 hours so that the baby could have some cushion to reposition his head straight otherwise she told us that I'd have to go straight to C/S. I was always afraid that would happen and it almost did. So by my 26th hour in the labor
room I finally started to feel stronger contractions again since they had also lessened alot of my epidural so I started having much stronger contractions. By 12:30pm today Sunday afternoon was finally ready to start labor and pushing.
After a painful 1 hour, 20 mins of excruciating pain of heavy contractions and pushing (since most of the epidural wore out) our baby was finally born @ 2pm this afternoon. I immediately felt a sense of relief and a also a surreal feeling that It was
finally over and that he has arrived!
Since I don't have a camera card reader here @ the hospital, I will post pictures of the little addition of the family soon after we return home in a few days.
