Should I have a daytime wedding or an evening wedding?

My fiance' and I are trying to decide between a daytime wedding and an evening wedding on a Saturday. The venue that we love we can only afford a daytime wedding at and the venue that is our second choice we can afford to do a evening wedding. We both would prefer an evening wedding but not at the expense of having a quality venue. I am opening up to the possibility of a daytime wedding since we like that particular venue better, but my concern is that guests won't have fun at a daytime wedding since evening weddings are historically more festive.  Any ideas??

Well what time would the daytime wedding start / finish?  My wedding is starting at 2pm and ending at 9pm.  Is that daytime or do you mean like AM hours?

one thing to keep in mind is the timing for your photos, especially if you aren't going to see each other before.

we are having a fall evening wedding and all the ones of my FI and me will be at night.  our ceremony is at 5:00.

I'd figure out the what your priority is.  Also depending on the season.

I personally prefer evening weddings so that guests can drink and dance.  The quality of the venue shouldn't matter too much as long as the couple makes the wedding memorable and fun. HTH and Good luck!

We would like to get married in May 2009.  When I say daytime wedding, I mean that the ceremony would start around 10 am and the reception would end around 3:30 pm.  So the cocktail reception would start around 11 and the reception at 12 noon, do people feel like dancing and drinking then?

I think people will feel like dancing if they're drinking ha ha. ;) I think, like shopgirl said, figure out what your priority is.  If you are in love with the daytime venue, choose it. You can make it fun whether day or night its just the way you put it together. And, if you and your then husband are having a great time, it will translate to everyone else and in turn they will have a great time too! :) HTH!

Haha Kohler, I agree, if they're drinking, they'll feel like dancing. If you prefer the daytime venue, go for it. Your friends and family will come regardless of the time, so its just a personal preference. Only reason I would consider the evening wedding is b/c you have more time to get ready, what time are you going to have to wake up to be ready by 10am?

Have you tried making a 'deal' with your first choice and have them come down on costs OR have them include more?? Most places I was researching I was able to adjust here and there.... You never know?

My friend had a 10am wedding, and after her and the immeadiate family had a small after party/ gathering at her parents home...

i agree with HMM....never hurts to ask....that's how we ended up getting the videographer we wanted....his "listed" price was out of our range, so we asked him what he could do for the amt we wanted to spend...bingo!

That's a great idea - I will definitely look into whether they can make a deal with us regarding the price for the venue that we love  - thanks everyone!!
