Wednesday night: FI packed 95% of what we were taking with us into the truck. (Drinks, table decoration/centerpieces, place settings, cake toppers, etc.)
Thursday: I woke up way too early because of the storm that
was moving in. When FI woke it was all about the plan. Shower, breakfast, finish packing the last minute stuff into the truck, fill up the gas tank, pick up the cakes and go. Picking up the cakes took a little longer than I
expected, but we had plenty of time. Somewhere in there a friend called and said he had a gallon of mead for us. (Wine is normally made by grapes. Mead is made with honey.) After picking up the cakes we took a side trip
to pick up the mead. One more stop for lunch and we were in Lake Tahoe by 2pm. As soon as we hit town we went to go get our license. After a quick trip to the store we went to check in to the hotel. On our way to the hotel
it started snowing! After checking in we bundled up and took a walk out to the beach to take pictures of the lake and mountains in the snow. We walked back to the room and then left to go into town and dinner. After dinner we did a
little gambling before going back to the room.
Friday: Didn't sleep well and was up early again. It snowed all night and there was about 6 inches of snow on my truck when we looked out the window. We got ready and went
to the local bagel shop for breakfast (and bagels for the weekend). We went back to the room to get our cameras to take pictures of the house we were going to stay in. The snow on everything was beautiful! Our photographer caught up
with us and went with us for our "picture party". After photographing the house we went down to the beach again and back. We hung out in the lobby of the hotel and played cards until it was time to check in to the house. After
checking in we drove over and unloaded about half of our stuff into the house. I then went around putting up everybody's room assignments and putting things where they were supposed to go. I ran into town for our lunch while the guys stayed
behind and helped our wedding party who were now arriving. We changed into somewhat dressy outfits and headed over to the hotel for rehearsal. The whole thing was a big laugh because all of us are a bunch of jokers. But we hashed
everything out and everyone was on the same page before we went back to the house for the night. After dinner a card game broke out in the dining room while some others watched tv in the livingroom.
Saturday: 4:30 am big fat
snowflakes were falling. It was beautiful but I started worrying that the roads were going to be impassable. Eventually it stopped snowing and the sun came out. My daughter left to pick up her husband (please don't ask) and we
started getting the day going. Breakfast was pretty big and I got to spend quality time with my granddaughter. :) I started getting my hair done around 10am and I was doing my make-up by 10:45. We all eventually got dressed and took
some wedding party pics on the front porch of the house. We had to wait for shuttle service as my niece's boyfriend was taking wedding supplies to the hotel where we were actually getting married. We had a small glitch as the florist (who
was also picking up the food) was late because the caterer was running behind. She and a couple other people were busy setting up the food which delayed the wedding a bit. Then we had one more glitch. My DOC ran down the
hall to us and showed me the tablet that I had the music on. All my playlists were gone! I worked on the music for hours and hours! Grrrrr! So I told my DOC she had the lists and to just play something and it would all be
ok. Then everything was ready and off we went. It went pretty much like rehearsal, including the comic relief. When it was over we drove out to the beach to take a few pics in the snow. Then back to finish the
reception. It was over sooner than I planned due to people leaving because of the weather. So we did our sparkler send-off and took some more pictures and cleaned up and visited until the shuttle could take us back to the house.
Even
with the problems it was just what we wanted. Fewer guests than we hoped but it all worked out and the families finally met. Anyway, we're still going through all the pics. We have over 2400 pics to go through so once we cull out
the good ones (and the photographer enhances some of them) I'll get to posting pics.
It's good to be back!
