Ok, I know you're supposed to sleep on your left side (which DH is whining about because it screws up our sleep snuggling haha) but does anyone else's left ear start to hurt after awhile? haha  I'm probably the only idiot that this happens to but when I wake up in the morning my hear hurts so bad from laying on my side all night.

I actually sleep on my right side and my right ear hurts too after awhile but then I just switch to the left side.

My dr said either side is fine...just not on your back after 12 weeks...

I still sleep on my back some (and did the entire time with my daughter too) - my doc and midwife have both told me that your body will let you know when it's not good for you or baby anymore.

Hi.  I'm Kathryn.

(Hi, Kathryn)

I'm pregnant and addicted to sleeping on my stomach.

*hangs head in shame*

It's really bad, too.  I don't have a belly at 12 weeks, so I'm just trying to train myself to sleep on my side, but almost 30 years of habit is doing me no good!  I keep waking up on my belly.

I asked my doctor if it was bad, and she said not until I was showing and it was uncomfortable, but try to train myself to sleep on my side.

What is the benefit of the left side, anyway?

I wake up on my back too, KK...and my body wakes me up when it's time to flip! I also sleep kind of on my stomach too...but she will kick me if she doesn't like it! :)

Yeah sometimes I am on my back and I feel like I can't breath so I just move - I figure my body is saying "nope not good!" - my chiropractor that works only with newborns and pregnant mamas told me that some of her clients can't stand being on their back starting at like 6 weeks and others are fine with it all the way through!

And I totally still sleep on my stomach! And I'm 22 weeks. Hahaha. I was fine on my stomach last time too until almost the end. And then I heard you aren't supposed to sleep on your stomach when you are nursing because it reduces your milk supply (compression is supposed to do this) but I totally slept on my stomach pretty soon after delivery and I had more milk then I knew what to do with - hahah.

The left side is supposed to not compress the large vein that supplies blood to your uterus so it increases blood flow. I flip back and forth when I am on my side though - laying only on one side makes my hips hurt. During labor left side laying is supposed to be a good position for relaxing during a contraction too!

I have been a stomach/side sleeper my whole life and if I keep an ear to my pillow for too long it begins to hurt so I'm constantly flipping through the night. Lately my hips have started to hurt from all of the side sleeping :( I feel like I'm flipping every hour or so...

Does anyone use those body pillows yet for sleeping and support? I have had the need to use one but I read that it can help from hip or back soreness.
