Alright ladies! Time to share your green-thumb adventures around the yard and garden! Indoors too, if that's your domain!

*Off to take some new pics - will post ASAP!*

Just found this group! :)

Our garden/yard was a mess when we moved in...honeysuckle and ivy had completely taken over everywhere!  I'm almost finished with the front yard...it was so much work digging everything up.  I'll take pics tonight!

Welcome!!

I'm finally getting time to sit down and post pics. Here goes:

I've done a lot more planting in the front yard this year than in years past. I never quite knew where to start and was paralyzed by fear of "doing it wrong." This year I decided I didn't care and that I WOULD have flowers - lots of them! It's not perfect and I still think I'm really bad at landscape design, but it makes me happy to look at. :)

Welcome I m finally photo 2929715-4 This planter has plagued me since we moved in. It's the first thing people see when they turn into our neighborhood - so glad to finally have something there! Sorry for the blurry pic!

Welcome I m finally photo 2929715-5 Shady area along the front of the house. Sand, sand, sand under that mulch. We have almost zero real soil down here!

Welcome I m finally photo 2929715-6 Day lily

Welcome I m finally photo 2929715-7 Random lily and some plants hubby brought home from some lady at work selling them. They were root bound in ugly little pots and of course weren't labeled. He was told they were lavender, but I'm skeptical. Fingers crossed that they're perennials!

Welcome I m finally photo 2929715-8 Caladiums do really well in this location - these were just transplants from a different spot in the same bed.

Welcome I m finally photo 2929715-9 We have two HUGE sagos in front of the house that were there when we moved in. I love/hate them. But they are some of the few mature plants in our landscape, so they get to stay.

Welcome I m finally photo 2929715-10 Between the sagos. The one on the right is still recovering from a less than mild winter. Theo likes to make cameos in my yard pics.

Welcome I m finally photo 2929715-11 Hydrangea "Merritt's Supreme" got a little hurt by some recent weather, but still very pretty. It's still really small, but should grow pretty big in this spot. They require a lot of shade in my region.

Welcome I m finally photo 2929715-12 My new pride and joy. A silver leaf eucalyptus I got from the farmer's market for $10. I gave it prime real estate in the front lawn, so I'm hoping it takes!

Next post - edibles!

Starting in the front yard (which I have pared down to herbs only, per DH's request for fewer containers out front :/  - I will admit to overkill last year.):

Starting in the front photo 2929747-1 Thyme

Starting in the front photo 2929747-2 Basil. Hard to see, but there are also tiny purple basil seedlings in this pot. They've grown a lot since Sunday when I took these photos.

Starting in the front photo 2929747-3 Rosemary. I have horrible luck with this and am on my third plant in two seasons. :/

Starting in the front photo 2929747-4 Last year's oregano plant made it! Also some parsley seedlings coming in.

Starting in the front photo 2929747-5 Catnip for my Theo. He adores the stuff. These were started from seed a few weeks ago.

Back yard:

Starting in the front photo 2929747-6 Tomatoes and strawberries in a raised planter

Starting in the front photo 2929747-7 The "pepper side" of the planter

Starting in the front photo 2929747-8 Gratuitous tomato photography. I'm DYING for some ripe tomatoes. The ones in the grocery store are crap compared to home-grown!

Starting in the front photo 2929747-9 More gratuitous tomato photography. These are "Early Girl" and should be the first to be ready :)

Starting in the front photo 2929747-10 Bell peppers. We had a cold snap right after I planted the first set of seedlings this year and I lost most of my peppers. I had to replant and ended up with a ton of bell peppers instead of other varieties. Not that I'm complaining - we'll eat them!

Starting in the front photo 2929747-11 I have no idea what type these are, but they are the yummiest strawberries I've ever tasted!

Starting in the front photo 2929747-14 We moved this sad crape myrtle out of the front yard, where it had been planted and allowed to grow at an angle (WTH?). Hopefully we can keep it upright so it will grow a little more evenly now.  I also added the little raspberry shrub next to it. I doubt we'll see fruit on it for a couple of years, but I'm looking forward to it!

Looks great!!!  I haven't been able to upload my pics yet...our basement is being remodeled and that's where our wireless router and everything was hooked up so we really don't have internet at home right now...hopefully in a week or two though.

Along the front of our house I planted 3 different varieties of Hostas but think I over did it a little so I'm going to dig some up and move them.  I also just bought the same yellow daylily and planted it in our backyard.

I have a few things that I bought from Michigan Bulb co that I'm anxiously waiting to bloom.  One is called pink cotton candy grass and I can't wait to see what it looks like!
