Total cultural differences...i live in Colombia and there is a lady I buy jewelry from and I have not seen her in some months...so today in Spanish of course she says, "Oh, I didn't even recognize you did you get fatter?" Mas Gorda...okay so I would be offended one if it were not true...and two I know that it is normal for Colombians to comment on weight...

I have gained 20lbs over the course of this year, traveling back and forth and the stress of being w/o my daughter or FI has taken a toll, but DAMN I really don't need a reminder when I have a closet full of pants that are too damn tight!

Then she goes on to tell me she is getting the Bypass and how cheap it is in Pesos...like I am going to jump on her band wagon....

Not venting just sharing :-) All I can do is laugh!!

WOW! I wouldn't know how to take that. My self esteem would be in the gutter.

One time my Godmother's friend told me to put Lamb Fat on my face, because she noticed how I suffered from sever Acne.

THAT WAS FUN.

Chin up love, screw her.

LOL Bunee2..she tells me as if I am going to have the surgery too!

It is so common here...they call my daughter gordita and she is not anywhere near fat....but it is a term of endearment! But I don't want my daughter having a complex!

lol..yeah cultural differences are definitely interesting. i provide speech therapy to a child whose family is from Somalia and the mother is always asking me very uncomfortable and random questions along with being very blunt...i am always afraid of what will come out of her mouth next!

WTF?!? My FMIL is like that, she's Thai and tells you exactly what she thinks. Thats why I took her dress shopping because I knew she would be truthful and say I was a hott mess in a dress or not :)
