FI and I are getting ready to install our backyard landscaping (the end of the month)! YAY!

Here's my issue.....I am a landscape architect. I took classes on irrigation systems, but I have never installed one myself before. I understand how they work and what parts/components I need for our yard. BUT I have never put one in before and I would hate to F up OUR yard, ya know? But if I hire someone and it's JUST LIKE I knew I could do myself, I am going to be upset we wasted the money.

So, if you were me, would you try it yourself? OR would you hire someone?

I talked to my husband about this in the past (he's an electrician and has a lot of plumber friends) and they all told him it was so easy and we should do it ourselves. Now we're moving more toward rain barrels and soaker hoses in our veggie garden beds so we never put one in but they all told him if you have any type of "mechanical" knowledge they were easy to install.

DH got into doing some of this in our yard this year, after a couple hard freezes over the winter busted some of our sprinkler pipes (we hadn't pumped out the system b/c we didn't know we were supposed to, lol). It's pretty easy, and he even changed the location of some of the heads to increase the watering efficiency.

I think you should try it yourself first. :)  I'm sure you'll do a good job.
