Our date just kind of fell in our laps. I'd originally wanted an October wedding but August was the best choice for those guests and attendants who have to travel (I'm a bride fresh out of school, while the FI's been out of grad school for a few years now).

We've booked our church, found our STDs (although still not ordered), working our our wedding website, I've narrowed it down to 2 dresses (won't choose without mom's help next weekend), and we've been looking at reception. I'm ready to have all the major things out of the way so I can begin the fun things like DIYs, but most will be left up to me as I live in LA, and my bridesmaids are in TN, NC, WA, MA, MN and Canada...but I enjoy crafting as a stress reliever, so I think it'll be a good way to stay focused, relax and keep moving right along with planning.

We're getting married in Vegas at one of the hotel chapels and doing a package deal.  That is the only reason I have so much done.  I'm a natural planner, where my FI isn't at all, so I know that I have to get the ball rolling in order for anything to get accomplished.  I want as much family there as possible, so that is why I'm giving them a huge heads up to book air fare and hotels.

We're hoping to cut a lot of costs by making all the centerpieces, flower arrangements, favor bags, guest-room bags (85% of our guests have to fly to LA for the wedding) and maybe even the programs...of course, this may all be wishful thinking (haha)... but once we're beyond the major hurtles of settling on a reception site and guest lists, we'll begin the fun things.

My wedding is on August 28, 2010, and I booked my ceremony & venue a few weeks ago at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki.  Chatted with a photographer & videographer, but not sure if I should book them yet.  They are having a joint special where I can get both for $4,200 (7 hr photo + ceremony video).  I can add ala carte items (i.e. reception video, more photos, etc.) which would put the photo/video budget closer to $4,800 -- is that too much?  They have Wifi at the hotel ballroom, so we're planning to have a live stream webcam during our reception.

I'm asking family, friends, and co-workers donate unused glass vases to use as my centerpieces.  I've gathered about 12 good ones so far.  To cut costs, we're making all the centerpieces using Martha Stewart's pom poms to represent "flower blossoms" instead of using real flowers.  I'm looking for table linen -- maybe just runners.  Any tips on finding inexpensive ones online?

Already bought my dress off of craigslist (Maggie Sottero Vienna for $750).  A bit snug, but I have a year :)  Still working on the guestlist and trying to find a DJ.  Starting to feel the stress  >_<''

Hi Luna, Welcome to the group!

I love the webcam live stream. My sister did that at her wedding and it was hit for all of her friends that couldn't attend :)
